6 Quick Quirks About Me

Mel tagged me for this meme. You are supposed to list 6 quirks about yourself and then tag others to play. If you wanna play, consider yourself tagged.

Here are my 6 quirks...

1) I can't sit still. I mean CAN'T, not won't, CAN'T. I've tried. It can't happen. I was a wiggly child and could never sit still. Then when I had my first baby 14 1/2 years ago, I broke my tailbone. Now I really can't sit still. I shift, move, change angles, and fidget. When I realize I am moving/shifting/changing about every 30 seconds, I start to get paranoid that others notice too. So, I do my best to sit very still. But then my legs start to hurt. My back begins to itch. I notice the tiny hairs that have fallen in my face, and I HAVE TO MOVE!

2) I love cereal, but not milk. I eat cereal with milk cuz that's how it works. I pour just enough milk to moisten the cereal. Then while eating the cereal, I drain the milk with my spoon before it reaches my mouth.

3) I have to turn things off when leaving the room. I hate when my kids leave a room and leave the lights on or the TV. I am constantly turning them off. Even at work. We turn on our conference room lights even when we have no one scheduled to use it. DRIVES ME NUTS!

4) I sing the Alto line to EVERYTHING - not just the songs in church. I sing the alto line to commercials, the radio, and even when there is no official alto line. It gets to a point that when I try to hum the melody I have a hard NOT singing the alto line.

5) I like patterned socks. I don't know why. I go shopping for trouser socks and I gravitate towards the striped/patterned ones.

6) I grunt in the morning. I am not a morning person. So, when my kids talk to me when I am tired and they hear the "grunt" they know they are only allowed to ask yes/no questions. This is so I can give the appropriate "grunt" in response. Uh-Huh= Yes. Uh-Uh= No. Mm-m-mmm(with varied voice inflections)=I don't know. You get the gist.

Ok - your turn. What are 6 quirky things about you?

A Game of Tag ala Bookworm!

How about a game of Tag for today's Festive Friday with Fun on the Blog!

Here is how to play:

1. Open the book closest to you, not your favorite or most intellectual book, but the book closest to you at the moment.

2. Turn to page 56....

3. Write out the fifth sentence, as well as the two to five sentences following.

(I am at work, and the ONLY book I have here is "The Great Divorce" by C.S. Lewis.)

'Not at the moment,' said the Hard-Bitten Ghost. 'But I never saw one of those bright mornings that didn't turn to rain later on. And, by gum, when it does rain here! Ah, you hadn't thought of that? It hadn't occurred to you that with the sort of water they have here every raindrop will make a hole in you, like a machine-gun bullet. That's their little joke, you see.

So, there you have it. Sort of fun, eh? I love things taken out of context sometimes. (whew! It's a good thing the 'closest' book wasn't some smut-romance book!)

Ok - You're Turn! Tag, you're it! Let me know if you plan to play, and I'll be over to check your blog! Or, you can just post the lines from p. 56 of your closest book here in the comment forum - heck it might even be more fun that way! Can't wait!

Ten Guilty Pleasures

In no particular order...here are 10 of my guilty pleasures...

1) I like to buy "PEEPS" candies and remove the cellophane wrapper and let them get a little stale/hard. I LOVE eating hard peeps...mmm.

2) Soaking in a HOT bath for an hour at least once per week.

3) Taking a *minimum* 2 hour nap on Sundays (the kids have seen me without my weekly nap... better to let me sleep undisturbed.)

4) Scrapbooking or working on another "fun" project instead of doing housework.

5) Recording (DVR) all of my fav TV shows, and then "wasting" a rainy/cold day watching ALL of them.

6) Making myself a peanut butter and chocolate frosting sandwich on soft bread while engaging in #5. Better yet if I just bring the entire loaf and both jars with me, so I can continue to eat without disturbing my viewing pleasure.

7) Massages! I used to get one EVERY FRIDAY, no lie. It was a guilty pleasure that I had to give up, sadly, when I became a single mom. Just can't justify the expense. (My weekly therapy sessions were about the same in cost, and I didn't have to tip my counselor, lol!)

8) Romance Novels. Now, I don't mean the smutty kind either. I like pretty much anything written by Nicholas Sparks. Though I have also started a few other authors. I just love a good love story with a happy ending.

9) Baking! All I need to hear from one of my kids is, "I wish we had brownies (or cookies, or cake, or pie...)" and I am searching through my recipes. I love any excuse to bake.

10) Rainy Days! Seems like an odd guilty pleasure, I know. But, if I do not have to work, I let "rainy days" be my excuse for anything/everything! On cold rainy days, I don't feel like getting out of bed. I just wanna snuggle the blanket a little closer, and stay in my flannel jammies. And when I get hungry, order a pizza! I have come to realize that Pizza is the PERFECT rainy/snowy/cold day food! oh - and by the way, this is great to do in conjuntion with #5, while saving #6 for dessert! hahaha!

What are some of your guilty pleasures?

Another Game of Tag

I've been tagged with yet another meme, thanks to Melanie. So here goes, you're supposed to complete the sentence and then tag 7 others to post on their blog. As always, if you read this and wanna play, consider yourself tagged!

In six months I will be: ready for summer.
In 1 year I will be: hopefully back in school.
In 5 years I will be: almost 40. Crap...that seems OLD. Hopefully I'll be done with school by then.
In 10 years I will be: the mother of a 24 yr-old, 20 yr-old, and 18 yr-old. Whoa!
I will be [fill in the blank] years old on my golden anniversary and will: Who knows? But seeing as the "golden anniversary" is 50 years of marriage, and I'm 34 and unmarried now...It's safe to say I will be older than 84. Heck! I may even be dead by then!

Knock yourself out if you wanna play. I can't wait to read your answers!

I've Been Tagged - Thrice!!!

Ok - for those who are new to the bloggy world, this isn't a new concept! It's been around the email-world for ages (oh - all right, maybe only a decade or so). Anyway - the concept is as old as the game of Tag itself. So, since I was tagged in Game #1 by both Heather(click here) and Mrs. S (click here), I thought I'd go ahead and play along. For the Game #2, I was tagged byHolli(click here).

See below for how to play. And I am going to break the rules (gasp) - but just a little. Instead of tagging NEW players, consider yourself "tagged" if you wanna play the game, and post on YOUR blog!

Game #1

My 7 weird/random facts:

1) I was born with a FULL HEAD OF HAIR!!!

2) I LOVE artichokes

3) I have NEVER been to Disneyland or Disneyworld. The only thing "Disney" I've ever been to is the "Disney Store" at the mall!

4) There is a "naughty" side of me. (Hey! I said "naughty", not "dirty". Y'know, like pranks and stuff. Get your mind outta the gutter! Geesh!)

5) I would eat Cinnamon Bears over Chocolate ANY DAY!!!

6) I HATE snow! It's nice to look at in the mountains, but pu-lease, do not come down to the valley floor!

7) I LOVE wearing silky PJs!!!

Game #2

RULES

Open your "pictures" folder. Go to the 4th folder (if you have one) and click on the 4th picture. Post the 4th picture.

Ok.....here is the 4th picture in my 4th folder of my "pictures" folder!

Whew - I'm glad it wasn't an embarrassing one of ME!!! It's of FunnyMan in his Retro-Dude Halloween Costume from Last Year!

Now - TAG! You're it! Can't wait to see your 7 weird/random facts and see your random pic on your blog! I'll be by soon!
