Moments that Make My Heart Melt

Sometimes the littlest things will excite me. Seriously. It's like emotion leaps from within and takes my breath away and I have an "ah-ha!" moment.

A moment wherein my heart is in my throat and my head is in my chest. My breathing becomes rapid, even if only for a minute, and the world, though spinning furiously in space about me, seems to come to a pause, and the noise in my head is muted from all other noises. And I am just there, in the moment, even if only for a moment.

I feel "melty"...I am in awe...I have to remind myself...to breathe...

Moments when...

I am taking my nightly run and see the sun setting on the valley below. The purple and blue hues are magnificent... breathe...

I see a family of deer. And I see a lot where I run... still... everytime, it gets me... breathe...

I am holding a sleeping baby.... breathe...

I am on the trails, and I look up, and suddenly realize, I am in the MOUNTAINS... there is a freakin Mountain like Right.There. ... breathe...

I see an elderly couple holding hands...... breathe...

I am told I am loved... breathe...

I hear certain songs that take me back to another "melty" moment.... breathe...

I listen to my children play together or compliment each other from the next room. ... breathe...

I bite into food that I have already imagined would taste so good, and yet nothing I imagined could even ever compare to how savory and delicious and scrumptious it is.... breathe...

The wind blows, and the trees sway and it's like the flowers are speaking to me.... breathe...

I see a piece of art and it draws me in... like, "how did you know that is what I was feeling today?"... breathe...

At night, I look up at the stars, and have to do a double-take because I forget how magnificent they are. ... breathe...

The waves crash against the shore.... breathe...

One of my children struggles, and cries. It's like my heart stops, and I want to stop their pain or their fear or their frustration. Their meekness and tenderness remind me just how fragile they can be and that gives me reason to ponder...melts my heart... and I usually end up crying too.... breathe...

A photograph of someone from my past; a look into their eyes, even though the look is from long ago, the feeling is now...real... and I want to create the moment all over again.... breathe...

He touches his palm to my cheek... it's so tender, so kind, so loving, and so... intimate.... BREATHE...

The moment right before a gentle kiss...even if I know the kiss is coming...
BREATHE, Emma...BREATHE...

These are some of the things that get me excited or make me feel melty... What about you?

Yes, I know what you mean. I totally relate to the art. And I love running during sunrise. On Saturday I was flying to Baltimore during sunrise and it was one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. Being above the clouds and seeing the sunrise.

At the orphanage where I volunteer, one of the little girls was crying this morning. Two different staff workers tried to comfort her, to no avail. Finally they gave up and left her to cry alone (they're severely understaffed, so a child who can't be comforted often is left to cry it out so that children who can be comforted can receive attention). I walked over to her and took her in my arms. The moment I touched her, she threw her arms around me, put her face against my shoulder, and quieted. All she wanted was me. Do you know how much I despise the fact that adoptions are almost never granted here?

when my husband compliments me, when I calm my child, when my friends rave about something I cooked, when I see someone perform an act of kindness. I get choked up to where I either want to sing or cry.

What an awesome list! I was right there with you on the mountain trail, and under the starry sky. Thanks for sharing that.

I've scheduled a post of similar topic for Monday about my favorite things. Your list made me really happy. I'm going to mention it in my post.

when I think back to when Moose was a baby and certain things he did...

when I stop to really LOOK at my kids' faces, to remember the small curves and faces they make...

when I stop to really LOOK at my husbands' face...

when I realize how beautiful it is outside (when I'm an indoorsy person)...

books that make you think about your life...

My list is endless! It's just the little everyday things that are always with you that often surprise me most. Things that are normally taken for granted, but sometimes looked at with different eyes.
I, too love to go out running in the mornings, and now the seasons have changed and the leaves are falling. I wish that I could keep these colours and misty mornings!

I love to look at the stars and see my old friend Orion. He was the constellation I would see every morning as I would walk over to early morning Seminary at 6am.

I get choked up watching a marching band play. It takes me back to my color-guard days.

This post is so great. I loved every single thing on your list. I think most moments with my family are those "breathe" kind of moments.

I'm totally craving a melty moment, and Will is working late tonight. So I'd SAY I'll be melty by myself, but that sounds crude! lol

No, I need to go do something melty. Find something melty. Be melty.

I'm also lovin' the word melty right now.
melty melty melty.

when I watch my children do something great or difficult. I get choked up listening to a testimony. I get choked up when I see my hubby cry.

Awesome! I have to agree with quite a few of your "breath" moments. Sunrise, sunset, babies, kisses...love it all. =)
