Interview With A Blogger: Megs

I started "blogging" back in Sept 2005. But, it wasn't via Blogger and it wasn't "blogging" like you think of nowadays. It was more of a family web "space" via MSN Spaces. There was a section for blogging, and I had a few posts. But most of my stuff were pictures. More like a family website to share with others across the country. Then, I met Megan. Megan is COOL! Megan is TRENDY! Megan is ARTSY-FARTSY and FUNNY! And THEN... I found out Megan BLOGGED! But not like a wimpy msn spaces blog. NO! She told me about BLOGGER!!! I logged on to her blog, {Mmmboppin'} once and was like - OH.MY.GAWSH! I NEED TO DO THIS! So, Yes, Megs -- because of YOU I started my own blog! I needed it. Blogging came at just the right time in my life; to sort out the mindless musings and not so usual thoughts in my mind! Megan is a teacher, a wife, a mother of 3 toddlers and so much more! Here is my Bloggy Interview with her!!!

1) do you remember the first blog you ever read? Yes, it was a family blog where the person posted once every 6 months and I thought to myself, "wow. it's their own personal internet journal. I wish I could do that." So I did. I started my blog the next day. Then I started posting every 2 weeks, then once a week, then several times a day. Am I addicted? Don't answer that.

2) What inspired the name for your blog? When I was a freshman in high school there was a little band of brothers with long hair called Hanson. They sang a little ditty called "Mmmbop" which people either loved or hated. I loved. I was their biggest fan, t-shirts, posters, cds, the whole bit. Later when people moved on to more mature music selections, I didn't. I still have a Hanson t-shirt hanging in my closet. I wore it to college. I just like the sound of "Mmmboppin'." To me it means just jiving along, dancing to whatever beat God decides to play in the itunes mix of your life.

3) when did you start blogging? August 5, 2007

4) why did you start blogging? Because I could. I think if people knew how easy blogger was to manage, then everybody would have a blog. Even 5 year olds.

5) are your reasons for blogging still the same now as when you started? No. I started more to update my friends and family on what was going on in our lives. Now I love blogging because I can interact with people that I care about that I had lost contact with before. I can read about my cousin that lives across the country (and I feel like I know her better now than I have in my entire life). I can comment on my friend's bad day and cheer her up, even though she lives in Rhode Island and I can't swing by her house with a plate of cookies. A lot of times a comment is even better than a plate of cookies. I guess what I'm saying is that now I blog to feel connected with people and ideas and the real world (not just the dirty diapers and soggy cheerios world that I currently live in).

6) one thing that makes you or your blog unique? I write it. As far as I know it is currently the only blog on the interweb written by me. I try to be honest and not make it look like my life is perfect all of the time. We all put the best things in our lives on our blogs, but along with the best things, I also put some of the horrible things like when I have twin 18 month olds and a 3 year old throwing tantrums in the middle of aisle at Smith's grocery store. And people are staring and shushing me. Those times are awesome.

7) something you want us to know about you? I try to be a nice person.

8) something you don't want us to know about you but will tell us anyway? Sometimes instead of being a nice person, I'm an obnoxious or moody person instead. And I hate cleaning.

Now, some Fill-In-The-Blanks...

9) I feel best about my blog when.... people comment on it. Is that lame to say?

10) I feel empowered...when I do something difficult (like finish sewing Christmas stockings after 3 years--lets not think about the fact that I now have 2 more kids that I need to make stockings for.)

11) Movies I quote most from..."Napoleon Dynamite" and "Nacho Libre" are the most quoted at our house. Favorites:
"Your mom goes to college,"
"Knock it OFF, Napoleon."
"Well, things are getting pretty serious right now. I mean, we chat online for, like, two hours every day so I guess you could say things are gettin' pretty serious."
"Take a look at what I'm wearing, people. You think anybody wants a roundhouse kick to the face while I'm wearing these bad boys? Forget about it. Last off, my students will learn about self respect. You think anybody thinks I'm a failure because I go home to Starla at night? Forget about it!"

Other highly quoted movies are "The Great Race" and "What's up, Doc"

Finally, tell us about your first crush...

My first crush was named Dustin. He was real, alright. I met him in the first grade. He had a flat top haircut (remember those? late 80's?) and a shirt that had a picture of a zombie on it. I thought he was the most handsome thing I had ever seen. His handwriting was perfect and our teacher (who hated me but loved him) used to have him sit at her desk and write up posters of songs and poems to use for singing time. That crush lasted all of elementary school. I remember when I went to see the Little Mermaid at the movie theater, my uncle was teasing me and he
asked me who I had a crush on. So I told him about Dustin and then as I was talking I saw Dustin walk into the theater, so I said to my uncle, "That's HIM!" And my uncle stood right up, walked over and shook Dustin's hand. I hid under the chair I was so embarrassed.

Hahaha! What a COOL Uncle! As always, leave Megs some bloggy-comment love here, and then go check more of HER blog out {HERE}

Awesome interview! And I blog for the same reasons you do, Megan! And, by the way, I would answer the "I feel best about my blog when..." the VERY same way!! If I post something and nobody comments, I feel like I would if I said something to your face, and you just S-T-A-R-E-D back at me without saying a word. I'm so with you on that! (Hence, my lengthy comments....) lol

Napolean Dynamite and Nacho Libre are also ones we quote in our house, "Why don't you make yourself a dang quesadilla!", "Eat the food!", "I age some bugs, I ate some grass, I use my hand to wipe my tears."

Clever idea to interview. It's fun to see them in a different light and learn why they started and why they keep going.
