Monkey See, Monkey Do NOT Do

Recently, I was surfing the internet for all things "monkey". PrettyPrettyPrincess is having a birthday coming up and because she loves Monkeys, we are doing a Monkey Themed party. She loves ALL monkeys, but especially loves the sock monkey. I am trying to do this on a budget, so I decided to make the invites. However, I didn't want to spend the time or money to scrap all kinds of little pieces together and use all sorts of brads and ribbons, so I thought what a cheaper way than to use graphics from the internet, right? Right.
In my search for sock monkeys, I found several cuties, like these:

Get it? A "Spider Monkey"!!! bwahahahaha!

Incidentally, here are some easy-to-follow-instructions on making your own sock monkey. Craft Bits: Sock Monkey . I, like my daughter, loved monkeys as a little girl, and still think they are cute. If I were having another baby girl, I'd love to do a sock monkey nursery, or snag myself this sock monkey diaper bag: Too cute, right? Now, also in my search, I came upon several of what I would call "Sock Monkey No-No's". See for yourself...

I mean some of this stuff could down-right scare little children into never wanting a sock monkey again! What's wrong with people??? lol!

I wish that I still had the sock monkey my grandmother made for me, circa 1973. I loved that little dude. I had him all the way through high school. Don't know where he ended up. Oh, by the way, here is what the invites ended up looking like:

the bikini and first dress are creepy! Love those invites - how darn cute. How did you make them?

Tristan has a shirt that says "monkey see, monkey do, monkey get in trouble, too" he LOVES that shirt. I think Isaac will too.

I loved the cute sock monkeys. I wish I could make some but I'm afraid my sewing skills are way below par.
