Krispy Kreme Konfessions

All right, so a few months back Carol posted about eating a few Krispy Kremes, and about how yummy they were and how enticing they are. I thought it was totally funny, and was certainly glad that I didn't have that sort of temptation.

So, we had a meeting at work on Friday, and I was craving doughnuts, so I thought, "Why not?" I mean, after all, it had been over a year since I had actually had a donut! (never mind the cheese danishes I punished the previous month - oh and notice I actually used both acceptable spellings of the word!)

Now, my FAVORITE donuts would have to be Dunford Donuts . I love their Glazed Chocolate Donuts...

Not to be confused with Chocolate Glazed Donuts...

Sadly, though, Dunford is no where near where I live, and definitely not on the way to work. So a quick stop to the Krispy Kreme Stand it is.

Let's see... 5 office employees, 2 donuts for each...and then a client or two might come in...so add a few more. Heck - make it a dozen, right?

I take the dozen to work. We have them during our weekly office meeting. I eat my 2. My coworkers, however are not doing their part; they are not eating their quota of 2 each. They are leaving several in the box. I can't very well let these donuts go to waste. So, I had to have another one myself.

Then after the meeting, I started some very BORING online training. Y'know the sort, "ethics", "ergonomics", "harassment in the workplace", etc. So, the ONLY way I could possibly endure this, is by eating another donut.

EVERYone in the office had a lunch appointment EXCEPT me. I got to stay behind and "watch the fort". But they promised to bring me back something good (my fav sandwich from Paradise Bakery, The Chicken Artichoke Panini, hmmm). Soon, it was 12:30 pm, and I was STARVING! By 12:45 pm, I decided to just take a wee little peek inside the donut box. Three Left? That means if I eat ONLY one more, there will still be some left, and no one will suspect that I was the pig that ate most of them!!! (except the one that reads this blog, tee hee.)

I debated... to have the donut, or not have the donut? But then I remembered this motivational saying I heard once, that goes like this: "When upon life's journey, whatever be your goal, Keep your eye upon the donut, and not upon the hole."

I mean, seriously, I HAD to eat that 5th donut, right? Plus it was a blueberry donut, so it was sort of healthy.

"This little piggy went to market... This little piggy ate 5 Krispy Kremes... This little Piggy got fatty-fat-fat... this little Piggy won't eat another donut for another three years... And This Little Piggy, went barf, barf, barf...all the way home!"

By the way - I was still able to polish off the panini they brought back for me... geesh, what a pig!

Here's how I rationalize the multiple donut eating issue around Krispy Kreme, particularly when they're hot. They just dissolve to practically nothing when you put them in your mouth therefore when they're fresh, eating four or five is like eating one old one. Thankfully, I don't live near the store where they make them.

That looks so good.....I love mine w/ the white cream in the middle!

Don't feel bad-on my blog I have a recipe (2nd post down) for pumpkin chocolate chip bread and I have (on several occasions) ate an ENTIRE loaf by myself in one sitting. It's irresistible!

MMMMMMmmmmm. donuts. Hey, don't feel bad. Once, I ate a small whole pizza from Little Ceasars. Washed it down with pop.

Krispy Kremes do that, man! They're ADDICTING!!!! I had such troubles when I worked in an office...I really struggled with the snacks and sweets and candy jars.

At least it wasn't 5 Krispy Kreme bacon cheeseburgers...

Haha! At least the 5th doughnut was healthy, right? My favorite is the plain old regular glazed doughnuts from Krispy Kreme. Mmmmm! Why do you have to go and get us thinking about doughnuts now?

You were merely reaching into your subconscious when you were told over and over again as a kid not to let any food go to waste because there were starving kids in China, right? (weren't we ALL told that?)

Seriously...I TOTALLY would have done the same thing! Doughnuts should NEVER EVER EVER be wasted! And neither should Donuts =)

isnt it crazy how much you can eat when you really want to? i absolutely crave doughnuts like nothin else...they are NOT God's gift to me....I love 'em too much for them to be a good thing for me....(i'm salivating as i'm writing this!)
well, i'll just live vicariously through your KK experience. :)

You do realize that the last Krispy Kremes did not count cause you were left behind waiting and waiting for your sandwich. I think there is a clinical study that has analyzed the air to dough content of a krispy kreme and they are 75% air, so you were just eating air. Sounds good huh? That is what I always say and my kids always ask where that study is, go google it, I am sure it is there somewhere....ha ha hee.

We all have those moments and I for one just love the Krispy Kreme! They just melt in your mouth and just like the old chips commercial used to say.....you can't just eat one!

Good luck, run an extra mile, it will make you feel better I swear!

Have a great day!

LOL @ blogstalker! Run an extra mile. NO BIGGIE! Whatev,

But we did have some ooey, gooey S'mores last night. I only had one but I did run my 2 miles instead of walking.

You're banned from blogging about donuts and/or chocolate until I lose 20 lbs ok?

That sounds like heaven--only I don't so much like Krispy Kreme--something about them I don't like! But I could easily eat twice what you had!

My favorite sandwich at Paradise is the Chicken Artichoke Panini too!

When you have left over donuts,(Yeah, it is possible),
just nuke them for 15 seconds and then spread Nutella over them. This works especially well with glazed donuts.
Mmmmmmmm. DO-NUTS.

When I was in college I somehow ended up with one of those cards that you buy one dozen krispy kreme donuts, you get a dozen free. So, my girlfriend and I decide... What the heck? We decided to get them and bring them back to the apartment. So, we left for our venture and on the way home we started eating... and eating... and eating... 24 donuts and by the time we stopped eating and driving around there were about 6 left... yep, better believe we were sick that night, but, it was sure worth it. Needless to say... This little piggy didn't go to Krispy Kreme the rest of my college life... actually until Gavin was old enough to want a donut. But, they are still oh so good!!!

Normal rules do not apply to krispy kremes.

regular glazed from KK--I easily take on 5 at a time before I even know it happened.

Tim (husband) who is a die hard Krispy Kreme fan wants you to know (I read your post to him) that he is SO disappointed in Krispy Kreme...they just don't taste like the use to taste...he thinks they are using cheap flour.

Why am I reading to him? I'm romantic that way...

ha ha ha ha ha

I'm curious to know if you empty donut boxes like egg cartons.
