Hit-or-Miss Love-Hate Relationship

Dear Ross Dress For Less,

I appreciate the fact that you strive to provide bargain-shoppers or "poor people", like myself with fashions that are 20%-60% lower than dept store prices. I can appreciate your "no-frills" marketing/advertising scheme, and that you pass the savings on to me, the consumer.

But let me tell you that I HATE the fact that your shelves are always a mess and stuff is always on the aisle floors, and I HATE feeling like I have to rummage through bins sometimes to get the latest and greatest deal. Face it, your store is not always that clean. Your cashiers are not always that friendly, let alone "put together". Some of them need to learn basic hygiene. Your dressing rooms are often a mess, and usually smell like some nasty ol' attic with a dirty diaper lurking in the corner. And I don't even want to know what the brown smears on the wall back there are.

That being said, I do want to thank you for the time when I found my Double Dang bra size there for only $3.50!!! Also, I recently scuffed up my favorite brown heels, and NEEDED some new ones. After scouring several shelves at several stores, you came through for me once again. Though it wasn't a stacked heel, they were the perfect height and the most perfect shade of brown. AND - they were only $9.99! You came through for me and for that I am forever grateful.

I regret to inform you that you will not make my top ten list of favorite stores to shop in until the other areas of much-needed improvement have been picked up and polished. Nonetheless I will never forget this thing you have done for me, and I am happy to send fellow bargain hunters and "po' folk" your way.

Thriftily Yours,
The Mindless Banterer

I am so very glad I am not the only one who feels this way...I was starting to think I was a little judgemental. We now even if I am I feel I am in good company.

Love, Love, LOVE the heels emma!!
(brown just happens to be my favorite color)
As for the rest of your sentiments, I totally agree...stores like that are an anxiety attack waiting to happen (for the likes of me, anyway!)

I love a good deal, but your right it is hit or miss on some of the stores you have to go through to find that great deal.

Nice shoes! And I feel the same way about thrift stores! That´s probably why I mostly don´t find anything there!

Those shoes are fabulous!

I love thrift stores. It is like a huge garage sale everyday of the week! Though, I only go the ones that are clean and the people are nice. Like the Salvation Army in my city. I bought a dress and shoes there for a wedding also a pair of shorts all for 30 bucks. I though that was great. I think my Mom looks down on me for buying clothes for dressing occasions at the Salvation Army. Oh well, the clothes I buy do not look cruddy and besides she is not wearing the clothes, right.

Your blog is wonderful, so you deserve all your awards!!

those ARE cute shoes...and i've got to agree with you on the cramped over-crowded aisles and shelves...TJ Maxx is the same way...it is difficult for me to find the time to go (that and i don't want to drag kids along on my conquest of the clothing racks!)

I too have a love/hate relationship with "Ross Dress for Less" It is hit or miss and sometimes you feel like you need to hand sanitize after you've been in there. But, there are those days that make it all worthwhile. Cute shoes! Congrats on your great find:)

Cute shoes!

But yes, I totally agree! It gives me a headache just walking in that store, therefore, I rarely do. lol

Adorable shoes... and I couldn't agree more with you that Ross is lacking in the clean and helpful departments. The clincher for me, though, is that they use PACKING tape to repackage. Come on, can't they at least bust out the stapler to try and repair packaging? Or... this may be going out on a limb... buy a shrink-wrap system? I realize that while browsing their wares I'm digging through the big mall rejects and castouts, but even the dollar stores manage to repackage in ways not as tacky as twelve layers of packing tape!

But, hey, those heels are really adorable :)

Ugh, we went to Ross this weekend. It is so frustrating. I hate having to dig through everything, its so much hassle. But I do love a good bargain. We found some good stuff. However, the people, you were spot on. My goodness...

Love, love the cute shoes!! You are so right about the mess in that store. In fact, I have dubbed it "Ross Always a Mess" after hearing it called that by someone else. I'm glad I'm not the only one with a messy Ross - ha ha!!

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog for a visit and for your very kind comment! I've enjoyed yours too and will be back!

Have a wonderful week and enjoy those shoes!

Hugs,
Erin ♥

cute shoes! I'm a shoe freak!!!

I don't know what Ross stores are like because we don't have one of those....but TJ Maxx is a lot like that! I stopped going because it stressed me out.

It's too bad that lower prices always seems to mean lower quality environment. Come on people...we need to lift each other up and stop treating these stores like garbage bins.

I've given up on Ross. I spend too long there and don't ever find what I want. It makes me ornery.
