First of all, I wanna say a special thanks to BigMouthBrenda for taking care of my blog while I was gone. She did a fine job, don't you agree?
Now, to bring you up to speed on the rest of our vacation and this past week...
First of all, MrBusDr (Mister+Bus+Doctor) is a counselor in the bishopric at church. So around 10pm Saturday night, I'm on my parents back patio making my daily phone call to who else- Big-D - while MrBusDr is indoors, also on the phone. Soon, I notice he is standing at the sliding glass door, looking out at me with his all-too common smirk on his face and all-too telling twinkle in his eye. I look at him as he gives me a little nod. Something is up. Perhaps he is just teasing me about not being able to go a day without talking to Big-D.
I head indoors and the following dialogue takes place between MrBusDr and me (NurseMom is playing the role of the innocent by-stander).
MrBusDr: So, the teacher for the Adult Sunday School Class just called.
Me: Oh yeah?
MrBusDr: Apparently her daughter is in the hospital so she won't be able to teach tomorrow.
Me: Hmm. That's too bad.
MrBusDr: She didn't know if she would be able to find a substitute at the last minute, being this late at night.
Me: Right.
MrBusDr: I told her I just might know someone who can do it.
Me: That's nice. [noticing he is looking at me with that smirk again] Oh, me?
MrBusDr: Sure! I think that would be fabulous to have a Guest Teacher.
Me: Um. Ok. I suppose. (how does one say no to their father??? Hey - you gotta see that smirk & twinkle combo!)
NurseMom: [being helpful] The lesson # is 32. I'll print it off for you.
Me: Um, Thanks?
So, on Faith and a Prayer I spent the next hour preparing the Gospel Doctrine Lesson for the morning. I would be foolish to think that it was all me that did it; it came together all too easily and all too quickly. Besides, I am the Mindless Banterer, not the Preachy-Teachie. Nevertheless, I felt good about the preparations, and was able to rest peacefully that night.
Sunday morning, following the main service is Sunday School. MrBusDr introduces me to the class as his "daughter who is visiting from out-of-town who willingly volunteered to teach the lesson". Right. So, I get up, and say something to the effect of, First of all, let's define the word "volunteer". The cute group of church-goers chuckle. I realize at this point, I've got a live bunch, and a wee bit of the Mindless Banterer takes over and begins to work the crowd. "Wanna know what you get when you LOVE to talk, your Dad is in the bishopric and the teacher has an emergency? You get to teach the gospel doctrine class to a bunch of people you don't know while you're on vacation!" Again more chuckles. This is going well, I surmise. What? You didn't expect me to be a total RighteousRhonda-MollyMormon- SundaySchoolSoulSaving-PrudentPreacher type, did you?
After church (and after a much-needed nappy-poo) we all took a scenic drive down to Lake Tahoe. The kids didn't believe how ice-cold the water would be, so we all took off our shoes and waded. The lake was gorgeous. The water clear blue. The air was crisp. Yes...it was pretty much like the cliche travel brochure says it is. Perfect.
Once we got home, MrBusDr broke out his famous homemade caramel corn while the rest of us finished up a few rounds of BOB and the can of Dill-Pickle Chips. Yum.
Driving home the next day wasn't too bad. Except upon arriving home I realized that my tailbone was out of place (thanks to a never-recovered broken tailbone while delivering my first baby 14 years ago) causing pressure against my sciatic nerve. So, now I am dealing with pains in my legs and feeling like a 60+ something woman. BigMouthBrenda said I should be grateful. She said feelin' like yer 60 and lookin' like yer 60 be two diff-urnt things and that once she hit 60, she done look like she fell outta the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down!
Anyway, we all had a fun time, but are glad to be home. Boy, I sure could use a vacation to recover from my vacation!

Just wanted to say I love your blogs!
Hey kiddo,
I'm so sorry to hear about your sister's baby. It doesn't matter whether they are born into the world or not, you still mourn their loss.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today. I hope that you will be able to take vacation #2 soon:-)
You are a fabulous writer. I think your blog is just as adorable as when I last visited.
thank you so much for your kind comment on my blog; that really means a lot to me. I think I'll be adding you to my blog list, too. You're such a sweetie.
I am terribly sorry to hear about the loss of your sister's baby. I pray your sister rests in the knowledge that the baby is being cuddled in the hands of God.
I'm sorry about your sisters baby. That sort of thing is always difficult. :(
Thanks for commenting on my blog. Your blog is fantastic, I just love it! I am curious, and maybe I don't know just because I'm a new reader but where did MrBusDr get his name from? I'm not sure why I feel I need to know that but I do. hehe
Found your blog on blog around the world. I can't believe you accepted an assignment to teach Sunday school in another ward other than your own at short notice.
I think you certainly scored a seat in the Celestial KIngdom with that good act!
I asked Nursemom last night What the heck is the Bob game? Sounds cute and funny. Loved the story on how it got started!!
