Tuesday Tunage: Sunshine Song
Well sometimes the sun shines on
Other people's houses and not mine.
Some days the clouds paint the sky all gray
And it takes away my summertime.
Somehow the sun keeps shining upon you,
While I struggle to get mine.
If there's a light in everybody,
Send out your ray of sunshine.
I want to walk the same roads as everybody else,
Through the trees and past the gates.
Getting high on heavenly breezes,
Making new friends along the way.
I won't ask much of nobody,
I'm just here to sing along.
And make my mistakes looks gracious,
And learn some lessons from my wrongs.
Well sometimes the sun shines on
Other people's houses and not mine.
Some days the clouds paint the sky all gray
And it takes away my summertime.
Somehow the sun keeps shining upon you,
While I struggle to get mine.
A little light never hurt nobody,
Send out your ray of sunshine.
Oh, if this little light of mine
Combined with yours today,
How many watts could we luminate?
How many villages could we save?
And my umbrella's tired of the weather,
Wearing me down.
Well, look at me now.
You should look as good as your outlook,
Would you mind if I took some time,
to soak up your light, your beautiful light?
You've got a paradise inside.
I get hungry for love and thirsty for life,
And much too full on the pain,
When I look to the sky to help me
And sometimes it looks like rain.
As the sun shines on other people's houses
And not mine,
And the sky paints those clouds in a way
That it takes away the summertime,
Somehow the sun keeps shining upon you,
while I kindly stand by.
If theres a light in everybody,
Send out your ray of sunshine
You're undeniably warm, you're cerulean,
You're perfect in desire.
Won't you hang around
so the sun, it can shine on me,
And the clouds they can roll away,
And the sky can become a possibility?
If there's a light in everybody,
Send out your ray of sunshine.

Barleyjuice: What's Up Yours?
An ode to the Kilt! Enjoy!
What's Up Yours?
(K. Brewer / K. Swanson / K.M. Brewer / G. Ford / trad.)
you hear the rumblings at the fest
rowdy boys in ancient dress
but nae a one will near confess
what lurks beneath the tartan
you see the swagger and the sway
imagination runs away
could there be cloth or is there nay
behind the pleated curtain
finnich inarra finnich aneeah
finnich a feileadh mor
a trophy or two and a ribbon of blue
what's up yours?
when Irish eyes are smiling
what do you think they're smiling for?
it's a nod and a wink to me lucky charms
what's up yours?
we stand here proud before the king
we love to pipe, we love to sing
perhaps I'll do the highland fling
to show you my affection
ye lasses with your scarlet sash
i'll give your necks a good whiplash
if you should turn and catch me crack
a smile in your direction
finnich inara finnich aneeah
finnich a feileadh mor
could be the loch ness monster
what's up yours?
you can give the lass her fairin
but the gems she will adore
are the ones she'll see above your knee
what's up yours?
(instrumental shenanigans)
finnich inara finnich aneeah
finnich a feileadh mor
a thunderous crack and a union jack
what's up yours?
when irish eyes are smilin'
what d'you think they're smilin' for?
it's a nod & a wink to me lucky charms
what's up yours?
finnich inara finnich aneeah
finnich a feileadh mor
a trophy or two and a ribbon o' blue
what's up yours?
you can give the lass her fairin
but the gems she will adore
are the ones she'll see above your knee
what's up yours?
finnich inara finnich aneeah
finnich a feileadh mor
a thunderous crack and a union jack
what's up yours?
call it the lion rampant
call it dragon lore
willy wallace called it freedom!
what's up yours?

Thursday Live: "Haven't Met You Yet"
The official music video if off limits for (legal) blog posting, but here is his live performance of the song I love most on Oprah. Lyrics are posted below...enjoy!
I'm not surprised.
Not everything lasts.
I've broken my heart so many times I stopped keeping track.
I talk myself in.
I talk myself out.
I get all worked up, then I let myself down.
I tried so very hard not to lose it.
I came up with a million excuses.
I thought I thought of every possibility.
And I know someday that it'll all turn out.
You'll make me work so we can work to work it out.
And I promise you, kid, that I'll give so much more than I get.
I just haven't met you yet.
Mmmm...
I might have to wait.
I'll never give up.
I guess it's half timing,
And the other half's luck.
Wherever you are.
Whenever it's right.
You'll come out of nowhere and into my life.
And I know that we can be so amazing.
And baby your love is gonna change me.
And now I can see every possibility.
Mmmm...
But someday I know that it'll all turn out.
And you'll make me work so we can work to work it out.
And I promise you, kid, that I'll give so much more than I get.
I just haven't met you yet.
They say all's fair -
In love and war.
But I won't need to fight it.
We'll get it right and,
We'll be united.
And I know that we can be so amazing.
And being in your life is gonna change me.
And now I can see every single possibility, mmmm.
And someday I know it'll all turn out.
And I'll work to work it out.
Promise you, kid, I'll give more than I get,
Than I get, than I get, than I get.
Ohhh!
You know it'll all turn out.
And you'll make me work so we can work to work it out.
And I promise you, kid, that I'll give so much more than I get.
I just haven't met you yet.
I just haven't met you yet.

Tuesday Tunage - "Somewhere Only We Know"
I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete
Oh simple thing, where have you gone?
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin
I came across a fallen tree
I felt the branches of it looking at me
Is this the place we used to love?
Is this the place that I've been dreaming of?
Oh simple thing, where have you gone?
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin
And if you have a minute, why don't we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go somewhere only we know?
Somewhere only we know
Oh simple thing, where have you gone?
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin
And if you have a minute, why don't we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go? So why don't we go?
Oh, this could be the end of everything
So why don't we go somewhere only we know?
Somewhere only we know
Somewhere only we know

Tuesday Tunage: These Are The Days
These are the days that I've been missing,
Give me the taste, give me the joy of summer wine.
These are the days that bring new meaning,
I feel the stillness of the sun and I feel fine.
Sometimes when the nights are closing early,
I remember you and I start to smile.
Even though now you don't want to know me,
I get on by, and I go the extra mile.
These are the times of love and meaning,
Ice of the heart melted away, and found the light.
These are the days of endless dreaming,
Troubles of life are floatin' away like a bird in flight.
These are the days
These are the days
These are the days
I thought you said our love would last for ever
Believing that the tears would end for good.
I told you that we'd get through any weather
Maybe that didn't work out, but we did the best we could.
These are the days that I've been missing
Give me the taste, give me the joy of summer wine.
These are the days that bring new meaning,
I feel the stillness of the sun...and I feel fine.

Tuesday Tuneage: Better Together
There's no combination of words
I could put on the back of a postcard
No song that I could sing
But I can try for your heart
Our dreams, and they are made out of real things
Like a, shoebox of photographs
With sepia tone loving
Love is the answer,
At least for most of the questions in my heart
Like why are we here? And where do we go?
And how come it's so hard?
It's not always easy and
Sometimes life can be deceiving
I'll tell you one thing it's always better when we're together
[Chorus:]
MMM it's always better when we're together
Yeah, we'll look at the stars when we're together
Well, it's always better when we're together
Yeah, it's always better when we're together
And all of these moments
Just might find their way into my dreams tonight
But I know that they'll be gone
When the morning light sings
And brings new things
For tomorrow night you see
That they'll be gone too
Too many things I have to do
But if all of these dreams might find their way
Into my day to day scene
I'd be under the impression
I was somewhere in between
With only two
Just me and you
Not so many things we got to do
Or places we got to be
We'll Sit beneath the mango tree now
It's always better when we're together
Mmmm, we're somewhere in between together
Well, it's always better when we're together
Yeah, it's always better when we're together
MMmmmm MMMmmmm Mmmmmm
I believe in memories
They look so, so pretty when I sleep
Hey now, and when I wake up,
You look so pretty sleeping next to me
But there is not enough time,
And there is no, no song I could sing
And there is no, combination of words I could say
But I will still tell you one thing
We're better together.

Tuesday Tunage: Feminity
You must walk feminine
Talk feminine
Smile and beguile feminine
Utilize your femininity
That's what every girl should know, if she wants to catch a beau
Dance feminine
Glance feminine
Act shy and sigh feminine
Compliment his masculinity
That's what every girl should know, if she wants to catch a beau
Let him do the talking
Men adore good listeners
Laugh, but not too loudly (Haha)
If he should choose to tell a joke
Be radiant, but delicate
Memorize the rules of etiquette
Be demure, sweet and pure
Hide the real you
You must look feminine
Dress feminine
You're at your best feminine
Emphasize your femininity
That's what every girl should know
Femininity, femininity
That's the way to catch a beau

Tuesday Tunage: The Luckiest
I tell ya, if a man sang this to me... I just might have to marry him, lol! Seriously, this song makes me cry when I really pay attention to the words...
I don't get many things right the first time
In fact, I am told that a lot
Now I know all the wrong turns, the stumbles and falls
Brought me here
And where was I before the day
When I first saw your lovely face?
Now I see it everyday
And I know
That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest
What if I'd been born fifty years before you
In a house on a street where you lived?
Maybe I'd be outside as you passed on your bike
Would I know?
And in a white sea of eyes
I see one pair that I recognize
And I know
That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest
I love you more than I have ever found a way to say to you
Next door there's an old man who lived to his nineties
And one day passed away in his sleep
And his wife; she stayed for a couple of days
And passed away
I'm sorry, I know that's a strange way to tell you that I know we belong
That I know
That I am
I am
I am
The luckiest

Tuesday Tunage: "Say"
Usually it involves my deepest, darkest feelings and it's almost always a big risk... but it's who I am. I just gotta say it, cuz as John says, "it's better to say too much than never to say what you need to say again...even if your hands are shaking...do it with a heart wide open". Oh, and I was ecstatic they used this in the movie, "The Bucket List" too. Enjoy the video!
Take all of your wasted honor
Every little past frustration
Take all of your so-called problems,
Better put ‘em in quotations
Say what you need to say [x8]
Walking like a one man army
Fighting with the shadows in your head
Living out the same old moment
Knowing you’d be better off instead,
If you could only . . .
Say what you need to say [x8]
Have no fear for giving in
Have no fear for giving over
You’d better know that in the end
Its better to say too much
Then never to say what you need to say again
Even if your hands are shaking
And your faith is broken
Even as the eyes are closing
Do it with a heart wide open
Say what you need to say [x24]

Tuesday Tunage: "After An Afternoon"
I like this song because I too feel like a past relationship offended my faith and trust, until all was lost; and the beauty is I can love again.
And when he sings, "your rich brown eyes Your lips and your dark hair", yeah... well I
It's three minutes that reminds you what love feels like. Enjoy...
I bare my windowed self untamed and untrained
Dreams that hardly touch our complexions truest faults
If room enough for both my drowsy spirit shall fall
Bold waves tumble, are to the season of my heart
And You have offended my faith and my trust
Until all is lost into the beauty of the day
Until all is lost
(yeah, see-yeah, see-yeah)
And I think It's Lost
And there's something in the way you laugh
And it makes me feel like a child
Aspects of life they confuse me
You and your thesis amuse me
After an afternoon with you
And your rich brown eyes
Your lips and your dark hair
Elbows and exposed knees tossing toward your ceiling
After an afternoon
Face to palm
Tear to tear
And
Mouth to tongue
Heart to ground
Heart to ground
Say, "I am in love"
Say, "Heart to ground"
Say, everything
Oh, Heart
Oh, Heart
Oh, Heart to ground
I am in love

Thursday Tunage: Sleeping to Dream
I'm dreaming of sleeping next to you
I'm feeling like a lost little boy in a brand new town.
I'm counting my sheep and each one that passes is another dream to ashes
and they all fall down.
And as I lay me down tonight,
I close my eyes, what a beautiful sight.
Sleeping to dream about you
and I'm so damn tired.
Of havin' to live without you
But I, I don't mind.
I'm Sleeping to dream about you and I'm so tired.
Oh, yes I am
I found myself in the riches
Your eyes, your lips, your hair
Well you were everywhere, out there.
But I woke up in the ditches.
I hit the light and I thought you might be here
But you were nowhere. Oh love,
Well, you were nowhere at home.
And As I lay me back to sleep,
This love I pray that I can Keep.
Sleeping to dream about you
and I'm so damn tired.
Of having to live without you
But I, I don't mind.
I'm Sleeping to dream about you and I'm so tired.
I'm so tired.
Well its Just a little lullaby to keep myself from crying myself
a little lullaby to keep...
Just a little lullaby to keep myself from crying myself
a little lullaby to keep myself
eyes are almost crying, just a little lullaby
Oh Once I dry my eyes I'll come on now...
Sleeping to dream about you
and I'm so damn tired.
Of having to live without you
But I, I don't mind.
Sleeping to dream about you and I'm so tired.
I'm so...tired.

Tuesday Tunage: "I'm Yours"
One time as a kid I remember my dad saying he really didn't care for musicals. I asked him why. His response? "It's just not realistic; people breaking into song at any given moment in any given place..." I remember thinking, "That's not normal?"
I guess I am just so into music that I often have various "soundtracks" for my life playing through my mind. Perhaps it's just that I hear a song and think, "That is exactly what I am feeling right now!" So, then I latch on to that song and play it over and over and can't get enough. Drives my kids nuts. I am not like people who say, "I don't really listen to the words... just the music." Not me. I listen to the lyrics; I love lyrics.
Here's the latest song stuck in my head. (Sorry, John Mayer. I'm going outside of our "relationship" for this one.) It's so how I'm feeling right now...
Here's Jason Mraz with "I'm Yours".
[by the way, it uses the word "damn" twice...just a caution for those who may be offended]
Well, you done done me and you bet I felt it
I tried to be chill but you’re so hot that I melted
I fell right through the cracks, now I'm tryin to get back
before the cool done run out I'll be givin it my best test
and nothin's gonna stop me but divine intervention
I reckon it's again my turn to win some or learn some
But I won't hesitate no more,
no more, it cannot wait
I'm yours
Well open up your mind and see like me
open up your plans and damn you're free
look into your heart and you'll find love love love love
listen to the music of the moment people dance and sing
We're just one big family
And it's our godforsaken right to be loved loved loved loved loved
So, I won't hesitate no more,
no more, it cannot wait I’m sure
there's no need to complicate our time is short
this is our fate
I'm yours
Doo-ja doo doo doo-ja
ba-doo-ja doo-ja doo-doo
ba-doo-ja you want to come on
Scooch on over closer, dear
And I will nibble your ear
swoo-dee wabbwa wabbwa wo
Wo.........................................hmmm
I've been spendin' way too long checkin' my tongue in the mirror
and bendin' over backwards just to try to see it clearer
But my breath fogged up the glass
and so I drew a new face and I laughed
I guess what I'd be sayin' is there ain't no better reason
to rid yourself of vanities and just go with the seasons
it's what we aim to do
our name is our virtue
But I won't hesitate no more,
no more it cannot wait
I'm yours
Well open up your mind and see like me
open up your plans and damn you're free
look into your heart and you will find that the sky is yours
so please don't, please don't, please don't,
there's no need to complicate,
Cause our time is short
This-o, this-o, this is our fate,
I'm yours

How Can I Be
Reminds me of when I lived in Hawaii. Love this song. It'd be nice for my kids' mission farewells. Enjoy.
Lyrics:
How can I be like my brother Nephi?
and My father Lehi of old?
How can I be like Captain Moroni
and the wars that were told?
How can I be forever
Like the promise to the three Nephites?
I wanna be Samuel the Lamanite
I wanna be Benjamin the Wise
I wanna be like Abinidi
Oh tell me how can I be like them?
Ooh... Ooh...
How can I be like Alma the Younger,
Strong servant of the Lord?
How can I be like Mighty Ammon,
Whose heart was his sword?
How can I be a stripling warrior,
And learn to fight by faith?
I wanna be Samuel the Lamanite
I wanna be Benjamin the Wise
I wanna be like Abinidi
Oh tell me how can I be like them?
Ooh... Ooh...
How can I be (How can I be?) like my brother Joseph,
When he prayed in the grove of trees?
How can I have (How can I have?) the strength that he had
and the love he had for God?
How can I be courageous
and strive to choose the right?
I wanna be Samuel the Lamanite.
I wanna be Benjamin the Wise.
I wanna be like Abinidi.
I wanna be like Jesus Christ
Oh tell me how can I be like Him?
Oh tell me how can I be like Him?
Ooh... Ooh...
