Family Vacation: Ninjas, 39 Steps and a Lighthouse!

For day two of our vacation we ate lunch at a place called Ninja's Japanese Steakhouse. The kids were sad they don't fire up their tables until dinner, but with my budget, we are doing sit down restaurants for lunches, not dinners. It was still fun. We watched the Sushi chefs at the sushi bar and we got our fill of good food too. We especially enjoyed their Tempura Roll, Beef Negimaki, and Chicken Yakitori.

Following the Ninja Steakhouse we went to see the Providence Lighthouse. It is a landlocked REAL lighthouse here in Cedar City. The developers of the new shopping center plaza were asked to create a "buzz" and make this shopping plaza unique. They had a lighthouse disassembled in Europe, shipped over here and reassembled. It is the "Providence Lighthouse" and "lights the way" to the shopping. You can see it from the freeway too, so I am sure it definitely created a buzz!

That afternoon we went over to our matinee performance of Alfred Hitchcock's "The 39 Steps". It was totally hilarious as 4 actors played roughly 150 different characters. The scene changes were uber quick as were the costume changes. This is, hands down, one of the best plays I have ever seen. The kids absolutely loved it and we all laughed and laughed. We had front row seats to this performance, which was even better!

Afterwards we took a quick peek around SUU campus and then headed back to the Abbey Inn for dinner and swimming. It was a nice day and very relaxing! Here are a few pics!

how stinking FUN! I like the idea of lunches out instead of dinners. We try to do breakfast at hotel (with the muffins I brought from home) and then lunch out, dinner IN-like a pizza or something that we grab and take back to hotel with us. That definitely saves some money. One time, before we wised up, we took the kids all OUT for breakfast and it ended up costing us like $76. And that was before we had our last kid! lol Nuts to that!

yeah. The hotel has a full breakfast included with out stay. (Not just continental). Then we did lunches "out" and for dinners, we ate in our room. They either ate their leftovers from lunch, or I had some pasta bowls (just add water & microwave), Hawaiian Rolls, and fruit we packed from home. The room had both a fridge and microwave, so it was very nice to be able to plan ahead like that.

Looks like you all are having an awesome time together as a family. How rejuvenating to get away from routine!

I told Kyle that everyone I know is going on vacation. I want to go on vacation. He reminded me that we just got back from Wyoming. But that was visiting family, not going as tourists somewhere on vacation.

We've lived here for 4 years and still haven't gone in the Lighthouse. We know people who have had anniversary dinners at the top. We just drive by and hardly notice it anymore. Steve likes the "lunch boxes" at Ninja. Mikele likes sushi, too. You are doing so much more here than we have ever done and we live here!
