When I run across something interesting, that perhaps makes me smile or feel a little nostalgic, I end up taking a picture of it (or finding a pic online) and saving it to a file folder to be used in a future blog post. Well, my friends, I now have SEVERAL file folders containing such images for "future" blog posts. There is no time like the present to get on with it and post these.
For this first one I totally missed the boat because I was gonna do a post on how not only do Americans love their food and not only do Americans love their country, but Americans Love to Celebrate their Country with FOOD!!!
Here is a collage of the Fun Fourth Foods I found! There are the obvious cakes, pies and cookies. But some cool ideas too! See the drink? Ice Cream. Ice Cream Sandwiches. Cupcakes. Shortcakes. Waffles. Jell-O Salad. Trifle. And then... there are the French Fries (Are they really "American"? Hahaha)
What about you? Do you get your patriotic foodie on this time of year? What did you make?

We didn't do anything red, white and blue this year but in the past, I have done jello:-)
Glad you pulled these out of your file. Gorgeous! I didn't make anything for the 4th, but this makes me want to next year.
Well, the 4th was my Birthday, and we have red, white and blue bunting up all over the Town, but that is because it is also Carnival Week!
Our Carnivals are different from yours, we Have a Fair ground that is here at the week-end, but as for the Carnival, that is a bit more complicated. Everyone gets involved in it....and everyone has loads of fun.
I made patrotic jello...the kids told me it would make the fireworks taste better :)
We made rice crispy treats and sprinkled it with red, white and blue sprinkles.
Grandma Mary made patriotic Jell-O.
My Mom makes red and blue jello and tops it wil whipped cream...LOL!
Well, since we didn't have air this past weekend we did not use anything for the oven. We grilled hamburgers. And stayed outside with water.
But as a kid we always did BBQ ribs and my mom's potato salad. Every Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day. I have been thinking about those days with a little melancholy:(
As a non-American I love how you make super-creative-patriotic foods on the 4th... but jello salat... seriously?!
