Quirks

I think MOST of my quirks have already been posted about in one form or another here on the blog... Nevertheless here are a few more...

When I hear a song I totally love, I have to listen to it like 200 times, OVER AND OVER until I know every word, every breath, every ooh and ahh, and am able to internalize its story.

I prefer high-thread count sheets (850 acceptable, but 1000 preferred). However, if I come for a visit, don't worry... I wont throw a fit. I will just sleep with socks on. :)

It takes me a while to get "settled" into bed, and then I have to wake up to turn the pillow to get to the cold side through out the night.

I grunt in the morning (or any time I am tired). I don't use full words, as I am not a morning person. Please only ask me yes or no questions so I can then respond with the appropriate "uh-huh", "uh-uh", or "mmm-hmmm"...

I only shave my legs if I am going to wear a skirt, and then only up to my knees. Shaving above the knees requires more time and is reserved for "events" such as swimming, hahaha!

I cannot go to bed unless I floss. Otherwise I feel like my teeth have "visitors" and they feel "hairy" and "gross". In the morning, I hate talking to ANYONE or even on the phone until I have flossed and brushed. I MUST get rid of the morning "sweaters".

I cover my mouth and nose when I giggle, cuz I don't like the way I look when I laugh.

If I am listening to a song on my iPod, I have to let it finish before getting out of the car. If I am in a hurry and almost to my final destination, I will turn the iPod off before starting a new song. I think it is just rude to cut a performance short :)

Sometimes I feel like speaking in various accents; just for fun. My favorite is a British Accent, although I am not very good at it, and I end up slaughtering it, mixing it with a slightly varied South American and/or New Zealand accent.

I have roughly 3 stages of my sleep-deprivation cycle: Stage 1: Super-Fast Mile-a-Minute Chat. Stage 2: Slurring Words. Stage 3: Quiet. Emotional-hypersensitivity exists within all three realms.

If I overhear someone mispronounce a word (i.e. they say ex-pecially instead of e-specially or berf-day instead of birthday) I have to correct it in my mind.

I don't mind made up words, however. For example, I love the words "besties", "melty", "fundage", "boobage", etc...

I make faces when I talk. I don't mean to, but I do. I've been told I am just animated...

I used to lisp when I was a toddler and when I am soft-spoken, shy and/or "flirty" the lisp comes out.

Sometimes when I hear music I have the strong urge to conduct it... I fight the urge, especially in public, nevertheless, the urge is there.

I talk to practically everyone in public, whether I know them or not. I will even share with them my "humor" (or un-humor as my kids call it).

When I am tired, everything is suddenly funny or (pg-13) dirty.

When I shower I have a routine. I do not like to break this routine as I feel like time is then wasted or I might perhaps forget a step. Therefore it is: Get Wet. Shampoo. Rinse Hair. Conditioner. Body Wash. Shave Legs. Shave Pits. Rinse Hair. Rinse Body. Done. With shaving it takes 8 minutes. With out I can accomplish it in 5.

I talk to myself. At home, at work, even at the store. I even answer my own questions.

When I make my grocery list, it is made in accordance with the layout of the store. Additionally, product placement both in the cart as well as onto the conveyor belt is sorted by category (meat, dairy, frozen, canned, sundry, etc.)... why they cannot manage to bag them this way is beyond me...

I give people nicknames, as if they were characters in a fiction book. For example, if there is this creepy guy who always hangs out at the library that smells like soup and has a goiter on his neck, I refer to him as Creepy-Goiter-Soup Guy. I don't know why... I just do.

There are many other quirks I have too, such as which leg I place in my pants first, which foot goes into which shoe first, and when I put on my bra... HAHAHA! Just kidding!!!

Anyway, the point is that we all have our quirks... and the more I think about it, I do not want someone to love me in spite of all of these things, but because of all of these things.

Meaning, that once he gets to know me and love me AND my quirks, he would actually miss these quirky habits of mine if I was no longer around.

What about you? What are some of your quirky habits?

Count me in with the sheets and the shaving! I don't do accents, but I occasionally get to where I refuse to talk at all. My husband has learned to understand a few ASL signs because sometimes I just refuse to make noise.

LOL! I'm very much like that! Yes, even English people do it too!
Just don't talk to me when I am half asleep, as you will only get a grunt in return, I hate being hot in bed and I'm always looking for a cool spot, I sing a lot, and have to wait until the song has finished, and my biggest fault is putting people right on words that are mispronounced. One pet hate is "Ax" instead of Ask! I give people nick-names too, in fact I do this all the time!

I have to correct certain words in my head too, I hate when people say pitcher when they mean picture.

I also have a shower order, I feel this allows my mind to wander. Though sometimes I have to pause and wonder, "Did I just shampoo or condition my hair?"

I have a shower order too. I don't like when someone leaves a cub board door open I have to shut it or at work when someone leaves the web site on the computer I have to click out of it! I also like to listen to a new favorite song over and over!

Free yourself....just for fun put the other foot into the pant leg first. It can be a whole new world. Then put the other sock or shoe on first. Weird, isn't it?

I too talk to everyone! It drives my boys nuts, they don't understand why I have to talk to people. Great post!

I like your quirks. I think it's because they are similar to mine especially the grocery arrangement. What?! I like to be organized.

Billy and I agree that if we ever get a divorce, it is going to be about how the bed is made. I HAVE to have matching pillowcases on matching brands of pillows. That drives Billy up a wall! That is why I make the bed when he is in the other room now...

Just FYI--CONDUCT THE MUSIC!!!! You really shouldn't care about what other people think about you. Me and my dad do it ALL THE TIME.

When I hear people talk, I have to type the words they are saying, especially if they are short phrases. I also play 'air' piano, as well as 'air' violin, and on the good occasion, I 'air' guitar. I also drum on things (with my fingers): desks, my legs, my shoes, whatever. My fingers are VERY busy.

I love this! I totally cracked up! When you find "THE ONE" he's going to have a fun time getting to know all of your quirks!

I am TOTALLY drawing a blank on any of mine right now. Huh. I know I definitely have them though. LOL
