What a Hag!

"Who is that?" I asked recently, after studying a woman whom looked slightly familiar in my neighborhood.

Her hair seemed to be thinning on top, her boobs had definitely started sagging, the excess flab under her upper arm had that after-effect-eternal-wave-thing going on, her tummy as like a belly skirt that even Santa would be jealous of, and she sort of hunched over a little, shuffling along like her back had just given way to that sackful-of-lifetime she's been carrying around all these years.

"She's hideous," I muttered under my breath. It was like a trainwreck. I hated looking at the horror, but then again, I couldn't look away. Then, pulling the end of my sleeve over my palm, I cleared away the breath-fog I had just created in the mirror. "Oh, it's just you," I sighed to myself.

It's true. I'm halfway to 70 and my old rickety body is sure letting me know. I threw my back out last week and was in so much pain I cried. It was my lower back (hello - the entire support system) and it killed!!! I did get in to see the chiropractor in the afternoon on the first day of said pain. I think I was the only one there NOT sporting purple hair or a cane.

Then a few more days of the good-ol' heat & ice rotation routine a few physical exercises and by day 4 I was feeling better.

Is it me - or does anyone else out there ever feel old? What, if anything, makes you feel old?

You are beautiful! And I agree with Yaya, you are hard on yourself. I think we all are - it must be the estrogen.

Personally, it makes me feel old when one of the boys we lived with in the group home thought I was 32. Now, that's not old but I was 22. That's a bit of a difference. Made me want to cry.

I have been feeling older lately. Expecially when I am playing with my kids in the yard. They are killing me!!

Whatever, loser, you are SO *NOT* old, and definitely NOT NOT NOT a hag.

I don't feel old. I think you need to date someone 10 years older than you, like me and Will, and then you'll realize he'll ALWAYS think of you as his little craddle-robbery-bonus!

my mind is young and my body is a state of decay. don't get me wrong, I do not mind getting old. I thought of how at My age my mother had a 17 year old, a jr in High School. Wow! glad that is not me. I can play with the grandchildren and them kick them out of the house when I grow weary, just ask Ruthykins, she often says, They are kicking us out.

enjoy life no matter how decrepid you feel. it is what is in the mind that keeps us young, not the body.

what makes me feel old?
LOW BACK PAIN-you know how that goes, lots of Dr's appointments, having the first thing out of my mouth in the morning be "owww my back." and the last thing said before bed, "owww my back"

Having a daughter that is almost 18yrs old. Losing a parent, realizing I will have two sons going on missions in 4 and 5 yrs.

Seeing lines and wrinkles, having that belly you speak of and no $ to get plastic surgery. Ya know, the regular stuff. lol

I feel old many times, too... which is pretty sad. But true. Life does that to you. Just gotta remember that you are still young and beautiful!!!

i realize that i'm still young and this might sound trite coming from me, but i hear that 30 is the new 20. so, you're still young. and little old ladies are not the only ones to go to the chiropractor. it was probably just the time of day you went.

First off Emma, I have to agree with Yaya. You are BEAUTIFUL. Remember that God made each one of us our 'earthly' bodies, so you best appreciate what ya got girl! Also, remember that's not what you REALLY look like (your spirit, anyway).

My dad had a similar complaint. We were talking the other dya, and for some reason, he couldn't say the right word. It was just coming out wrong, or sounded like gibberish. He turned to me and said, "Man, this 'getting old' thing SUCKS!!!" It was actually funny the way he said it.

Oh Please Emma you aren't any where near being old! My family keeps on trying to tell me that I am old, but I refuse to believe it because I don't feel old.

My hip hurt for a week so I didn't do much walking. Long drives in the car did not help, especially when the cruise control did not work. Then I thought about pushing a handcart the same distance and I suddenly felt much better.
Life goes on......

oh dearest...we all feel a little aged now and again!
what makes me feel old is realizing that even though my husband and i are still categorized in the "newly-wed" category (since we're under 10 years of wededness) the "real" newlyweds are just so YOUNG!!!! that makes me feel old to realize that many of these gils were only in middle school when i got HOME from my mission....sigh.....whatcha gonna do?

My feet hurt or feel numb. So I hobble or limp. Then the limping ends up hurting a different muscle. Kyle doesn't like seeing me hobble around because he thinks it makes me look old. Like I'm an old lady shuffling around.

I feel 25 but surely don't heal as fast as I once did. Being a new to be grandma doesn't make me feel old at all. Just the healing stuff.
