The To-Do List

I LOVE having parties. The thing I HATE about them is getting ready for them. Why can't I just have a staff of about 10 people to come and clean and decorate and get the house ready for occasions like this? Oh yeah --- that little thing called "Money".

Bummer. Looks like it's up to me and my kids (yeah, right) to get the job done before our family Christmas party this Saturday. Here is my "wish-list" version of a to-do list. I doubt I will get it all done, but at least it is a goal, right?

  • Clean all bedrooms
  • Vacuum entire house
  • shampoo carpets
  • deep clean bathroom
  • finish/clean up/put away Christmas project that is consuming my dining table at the moment
  • paint main bathroom (may not happen)
  • wash down (magic eraser) all door jams and light switches
  • dust
  • get caught up on laundry (this is the one that'll kill me)
  • Clean out storage room
  • put up Christmas Tree (it is a Christmas party, after all)
  • wrap gifts for guests, place under tree
  • shop for food
  • make/prepare food
  • rake the forest of leaves that have overtaken my backyard
  • take a deep breath - a xanax every night before beddy-bye

In the meantime I've got Dr. appointments, ortho appts, hair appts and there's sure to be something unexpected too! :) Looks like I'll be pulling a few all-nighters. :)

just concentrate on the last item on your to-do list...if you keep doing that, then whatever else doesn't get done won't matter as much! ;)

Wow!! What a humongous list! That will be me, the day before Christmas Eve. It is our turn to have dinner on that day. Hey, at least I don't have to drive to the dinner party.

When you have a free moment, I photo tagged you! Come check it out!

ha! that looks like a very familiar list to me...i guess i should be thankful that i don't have a place big enough to hold a party of any kind so that i don't have to have my own list just like yours.
you'll get what needs to be done, done. just have fun!

I think you took my list, you can keep it, I don't want it back.

Thanks for the shout out!

Wow...that is quite the list. I am happy to help where I can. I can sure wrap some presents or help wash a wall:) It can all get very overwhelming. You want to have everything perfect. So, since you can wiggle your magic nose...you'll just have to ask for help:) Let me know!

you realize the only person who's going to care about most of that stuff is you. i know i'm not going to be there, but i wouldn't even look at the door jambs. compared to this list my house is a trash disaster, and i'm having an inspection today or tomorrow.

THE DOOR JAMBS ARE THE first thing I notice when company comes..so dirty!!! You have your work cut out for you but cut it into mini lists. separate it into daily lists and then you can feel more acomplished than overwhelmed. good luck.

I also love parties but hate hosting for that very reason. I'malways embarrassed at this mess, or that room, blech. I'm sure nobody else cares though!

I would love to come help clean/rake the leaves, but that means you might have to watch Hailey for me. She might double your mess in a few minutes...

WOw good luck with all of that! Just take it one thing at a time and you'll be good!

I say... Forget it all.. the compnay is what makes the mess worse... So, I say do a quick clean up... shove under beds and in closets, get through the party and then after Christmas clean the house so you can enjoy it. Otherwise... you will clean clean clean... have a party and look at the house and say WHAT THE HECK HAPPENED TO MY HOUSE... and then that to do list, needs to be done AGAIN, so, I vote... forget it.

I love lists. However, I love making lists more than doing the things on the list. I have a list like this at my house too. Waiting.
