I May Just Get Mother of the Year for This!

The other night was GNO! (Girl's Night Out). I can barely remember the last time I had myself one of those. Was it before Christmas? I think perhaps it was. Anyway, it was much needed and long overdue and my lovelies even waited to have it until it was MY Spring Break so I could be sure to attend. And attend I did.

In the meantime, PrettyPrettyPrincess was at her fathers doing homework. We had just been seated at Brick Oven Pizza (way good by the way) and I get a text from her.

PrettyPrettyPrincess: Hey. I'm trying to write a poem. I need your help. What rhymes with "leaves"?
ME: Um. Believes. Sheaves. Heaves. I dunno. Go to Rhymezone.com
PPP: Ok. Thanks. Will do.

I thought all was well, and began to look at the menu. Oooh! A pizza "feast" for one includes a salad AND a trip to the Pasta Bar in Addition to a mini personal pizza! Hmm.... should I?

But, my thoughts were then interrupted by a follow-up text.

PPP: What does "heaves" mean? I think it's a verb, but that's all I know.

~Now, at this point two things come to my mind. 1) This explanation will take longer than I have the patience to send in a text. and 2) I want pizza.

ME: Look it up. Dictionary.com
PPP: Ok. Haha. You keep telling me to look online. K, Thanks. Love You!
ME: Yes. Correct. I am teaching you self-reliance. Go Me!

Yes folks. That's what I call A-1 parenting. It's how I do.

Haha! I may just get nominated for MOTY yet!

  2. I thank you for teaching her that lesson. I get calls from all of my family asking me things that I google to get the answer to. If everyone just thought to do that first, it would make my life much easier.

  6. hey teaching a kid to be self-reliant is GREAT parenting! give a kid a fish (or a definition) feeds her for a day, teach her HOW to fish (or FIND the definition) feeds her for a lifetime!!

Am I right, or am I right?? ;)
